We successfully represented a client who fell down an elevator shaft in the District of Columbia, recovering 1.4 million dollars.

1.2 Million Dollars

We successfully represented an airplane pilot who was crop dusting and struck utility lines owned and operated by a Pennsylvania utility company. The pilot sustained burns. The case was filed in the Circuit Court for Cambria County, Pennsylvania, and settled for 1.2 million dollars.

1.0 Million Dollars

Six seamen died as a result of a fire in the boiler room on board an oceangoing cargo ship outside of Sri Lanka. We represented, with co-counsel, one of the victims from Arlington, Virginia. The case was filed in the Federal Court in New Orleans where the shipping company had its headquarters. The case settled for in excess of 1.0 million dollars.

2.0 Million Dollars

We obtained a 2.0 million dollar resolution of this product liability case involving a defective automobile child seat after a five-week trial in Federal Court in Baltimore. The victim was a 17-month old who sustained serious injuries.

4.2 Million Dollars

We obtained a 4.2 million dollar lump-sum settlement for a 16-year old student who died in a train crash outside Baltimore, Maryland. Our firm was also a member of the six-firm Steering Committee responsible for the litigation of in excess of 600 personal injury claims arising from this accident.

In an auto collision claim in Baltimore City, Maryland, we recovered approximately 1 million dollars for the victim who underwent multiple surgical procedures.

Largest Recreational Boating Accident

A successful attorney in Maryland was one of seven persons killed in a boating accident near Ocean City on Memorial Day. At the time, this was the largest recreational boating accident in a decade in Maryland. We were one of the lead Counsel for the wrongful death committee of the plaintiffs. Suit was filed in the Federal Court under the jurisdiction of admiralty and maritime law. A very substantial settlement was obtained. However, the amounts must remain confidential under the terms of the settlement agreement.

First Sick Building Case

We represented, with co-cousel, Federal employees working in a downtown D.C. office building in one of the first suits filed in the United States involving "sick building syndrome." The case involved multiple defendants. Industrial hygienists, engineers, and medical specialists were retained on behalf of the injured parties to testify as experts. The case was tried for six weeks before a District of Columbia jury. The case ultimately was resolved for several million dollars.

1.4 Million Dollars

This was a medical malpractice claim, which we handled with co-cousel, against a local hospital who was alleged to have failed to timely deliver a child by c-section after the mother was in distress for some time. The case settled for approximately 1.4 million dollars.
