Pit Bull Dog Fatally Attacks Owner After Return of Animal from Animal Control

Posted on Nov 07, 2013

The Baltimore Sun recently that a dog which had been previously seized by animal control that had been returned to it's owner on Friday was subsequently involved in a fatal attack. City animal control did not feel the dog was a threat to the public according to a statement quoted in the Baltimore Sun.

The dog owner who was killed was 56 year-old Terry Douglass.

Douglass' daughter Tamathia Davis said other family members did consider this animal a threat and pleaded with animal control not to return Boosie, a 4-year-old male pit bull that Douglass had raised from a puppy.

The family may have a cause of action against Animal Control for negligence in that no hearing was conducted prior to the dog's return from animal control.
