Baltimore County Man Hit By Truck In Hit and Run Accident

On January 11th, 2013, A 19 year old man from Baltimore County was seriously injured after pushing his female companion out of the way of an oncoming truck. According to the Baltimore Sun, Kwante Betters and Lauren Bielanski were trying ot jump start their vehicle in Essex Maryland at about 10 p.m. According to the news report, which obtained statements from the police, the man was struck by a Ford F-150 at a high velocity throwing him into the road and causing him serious injuries. The negligent truck driver failed to stop at the accident scene and was later arrested. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The driver of the Ford F-150 who struck the nineteen year old may face criminal penalties and may also be subject to civil penalties if the injured man files a negligence lawsuit.
